A Ramasside tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to start your tour of Alexandria. First, visit the Greco-Roman Museum, which houses a large collection of cultural artifacts from the ancient Greek and Roman periods, including statues of Alexander the Great, artifacts of Roman emperors, and mummies. Then, head to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the largest library in the world, to visit its outdoor courtyard, admire the statues of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy I, and learn about the library’s exterior design. Next, you will visit St. Mark’s Church, the oldest church in Africa, and stroll through the Old City of Alexandria, exploring the traditional markets and unique architectural styles. Then, you will pass by Abu El-Abbas Mosque, take some photos, and visit the Qaitbay Castle before returning comfortably to your hotel.

Tour Details

Our Ramasside tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to start your Alexandria tour. First, you will visit the Greco-Roman Museum, which contains many archaeological artifacts from the ancient Greek and Roman periods, such as the statue of Alexander the Great, artifacts of Roman emperors, and mummies from that era. The museum’s collection covers masterpieces from the 3rd century BC to the 7th century AD, offering you a fascinating journey through history through its stories and historical context.

Then, you will head to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina — the largest library in the world, which currently houses 8 million books. Visit the courtyard, where you can see the statues of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy I, which were discovered underwater. Our tour guide will explain the exterior design of the library, and you will have the opportunity to take photos.

Note: The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is closed on public holidays and Fridays. Entrance to the reading room requires a ticket.

Next, the car will take you to St. Mark’s Church — the oldest church in Africa, and then you will visit the old city of Alexandria, where you can walk through the city center and see the traditional markets selling various products, including traditional Egyptian sweets. The local architecture is in Baroque style with elements of Italian and French architecture.

You can choose to have lunch at a modern seafood restaurant or at the famous traditional “Mohamed Ahmed” restaurant in Alexandria. The Queen of Spain and many famous personalities have visited it during their visits to Alexandria.

You will also pass in front of Abu El-Abbas Mosque (photo stop), which is the most beautiful and largest mosque in the city. Next to it, there is an old amusement park where children enjoy very old carousels and eat cotton candy.

Across from it, you will find the beach and the old harbor, where you can see old fishing boats, fishermen, and traditional fishermen weaving nets. It is a great opportunity for photos. Then, you will visit Qaitbay Fortress, which was built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria — one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This castle is very impressive and is an excellent spot for photos.

After that, you will return comfortably to your hotel in Alexandria.

Please note that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is closed on Fridays and public holidays. An additional ticket is required to enter the reading room.
