Tour Overview

Our Ramasside tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Alexandria to start your tour with the Library of Alexandria, renowned as the world's largest library, housing 8 million books. You'll visit the open court, featuring statues of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy I, both found underwater nearby. Our guide will explain the library's exterior design, with opportunities for photo stops.

Note: The Alexandria Library is closed on Fridays and public holidays. Entry to the reading area requires a separate ticket.

Next, you'll visit the Roman Amphitheater of Alexandria, showcasing sunken monuments discovered in the East Harbor of Alexandria.

We'll then drive to St. Mark's Church, the oldest church in Africa, followed by a visit to Alexandria's old downtown. Here, you can walk through the old city center, exploring traditional markets selling everything from Egyptian sweets to various treats. The local architecture boasts baroque designs and Italian and French styles.

An optional lunch stop is available at either a modern fish restaurant or the renowned traditional Alexandrian eatery, Mohamed Ahmed's, frequented by the Queen of Spain and other notable visitors.

You can optionally relax at a quality coffee shop or a traditional shisha café.

You'll have a photo stop at the Abbo Elabbas Mosque, the city's largest and most beautiful mosque. Nearby, you'll find an old funfair with antique rides and candy floss stands.

Opposite the mosque is the corniche and old harbor, where you can see fishing boats, fishermen, and traditional net making. The photo opportunities here are superb. You'll also view the exterior of Quaitbay Castle, built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, offering a spectacular photo stop.

We'll then drive to the Montaza Gardens. Along the way, enjoy a quick stop at the King of Mango for freshly squeezed juice and a photo at the memorial of the Unknown Soldier of Alexandria. The scenic coastline and city views lead to Montaza Palace and gardens, about 25 km away, including the old harbor with 7000 underwater monuments.

In Montaza Gardens, known as the Love Garden, you'll explore the royal gardens of King Farouk, the last king of Egypt, and see the royal palaces of Haramlek and Salamlek. Walk along the famous Montaza bridge to the Tea Palace island and see the royal beaches.

On the return journey, you'll pass the famous Stanley Bridge, a modern landmark of Alexandria, before comfortably traveling back to your hotel.

Alexandria offers so much to see, experience, and enjoy. If you have extra time or wish to add more to your itinerary, let us know your interests, and we'll arrange it for you at cost price.
